LIBERAL DEMOCRATS LAUNCH CAMPAIGN FOR NEW EVESHAM HOSPITAL

Liberal Democrat Councillors on Wychavon District Council have tabled a motion for Wychavon’s Council meeting on Tuesday 12 th September proposing that an approach should be made to the new Worcestershire PCT to take forward plans for a new community hospital for Evesham.

Group Leader Cllr Margaret Rowley said “ Evesham needs a new hospital. The town’s response to the recent threat to the existing Community Hospital has shown the strength of local support. Unfortunately the current hospital buildings are past their sell by date, and would be expensive to adapt to provide state of the art services. The time is now right to make a bid for a new hospital.”

Wychavon has already allocated £20,000 towards making the case for a new Evesham Hospital, working with local partners. The new Worcestershire PCT comes into being on 1 st October 2006.

iberal Democrat plans for the development of health services and local transport issues will be the subjects of discussion at a public meeting to be held in Evesham Public Hall on Wednesday 13 th September at 8pm. Everyone is welcome to come and join in the debate
