LIB DEMS WELCOME PROMISE OF NEW LIDO PLANS

Commenting on last night’s announcement of new plans for the development of the Lido, Cllr Margaret Rowley, Leader of the Opposition on Wychavon District Council, said " It looks as if Wychavon’s Conservative Executive Board has at last decided to take into account the views of the people of Droitwich Spa and continue to provide an outdoor swimming pool in the Lido Park".

“The Liberal Democrat Group has always supported the refurbishment of the Lido. We can see that it has tremendous potential to again become a tourist attraction as well as becoming a much needed leisure facility for local people.”

Town and District Councillor Graham Gopsill added “It is time the indoor pool was demolished as it has no role to play in the new Lido complex. The way is then clear for the restoration of an outdoor fun pool which young people in particular have been missing.

“At long last the Executive Board has remembered that the Council is there to represent local people and provide services for the community.”

True to form, the Executive Board did not allow any questions or discussion on the proposed plans at the meeting, but they are due to be submitted to the Special Overview and Scrutiny meeting on 27 th September.
